Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ Spring Statement didn’t deliver any major tax changes, but it wasn’t without substance.
With a renewed focus on compliance, big ambitions for housebuilding and infrastructure and an extension of Making Tax Digital, there’s still some key messaging for businesses to take note of.
Download our Spring Statement Summary Report for a comprehensive round-up of the key announcements from Wednesday 26 March.
In this report, we also spotlight several measures from the Autumn Budget that take effect from April, including:
• increases to the National Living Wage and Minimum Wage
• rise in Employers’ NICs
• abolition of the Furnished Holiday Lettings tax regime
Commenting on the Statement, Amie Wilson, Director said:
“The Chancellor promised no further tax increases and on that she delivered. The messaging was clear around the government’s crackdown on compliance and commitment to previously announced changes – including the hike in employers’ NICs from April which remains a concern for the business community. On the upside, planning reforms promise a building boom, with 1.5 million new homes in the pipeline and housebuilding set to hit a 40-year high, signalling significant opportunity for suppliers and investors to engage with the public sector.”
